PANASHE MURANDU HOPES TO WIN MISTER GLAM INTERNATIONAL TITLE

Probably the last time you had the name Panashe Murandu in the pageant competitions ,was last year when he was contesting for, the Mister Zimbabwe title.
Panashe Murandu is back again in the world of pageant. As he is contesting for the Mister Glam International title in July where he will be representing Zimbabwe.
In an interview with him, he explains to us why he deserves the title and how it will be a benefit to his community and his career .


Q: Congratulations on being selected as MisterGlam International Zimbabwe,what does the title Mister Glam International chiefly specialize in ?
A.Thank you very much, all I can say about Mr glam is that you have to be more attractive, exciting or interesting person. You have to be someone of self-esteem.


Q:How is your community and the country going to benefit from your success in the pageant ?A:Am going to use my title to benefit those who are coming after me and with a dream to reach and go beyond this tittle.



Q:This is not your first pageant,briefly can you give us your summary of your previous pageants you have taken part in ?A:The previous competition I took part in was Mr Zimbabwe,I couldn’t get the title, as here was stiff competition but I made it in the finals which gave me strength and courage to go forward.


Q:In a sentence why do you think you deserve to be crowned the King of the pageant ?A:I believe I deserve to win this title because it will help me archive my long term goals. One of them is by sponsoring my own pageant, I can work towards my career goals in the modelling industry. I aim to make a difference in my community, and this title will absolutely be the difference maker when it comes to the aid that I need to do that.



Q:Who is your Inspiration in the world of modelling pageant ?A:Rohit Khandelwal inspires me most, he was Mr India in 2015 and was later crowned Mister World 2016.


Q:Besides the Mister Glam International which other titles International are you planning to win?A:I’ve been focusing on Mr glam international title for now but am not aiming to stop there but to go forward.


ALL SET FOR MISTER IDEAL NIGERIA 2021 PAGEANT

It’s count down to who will be the Next Mister Ideal Nigeria 2021.

The coronation of the new King is set to be hosted in Nigeria,on the 13th of June. With more than 37 contestants vying for the throne.Last year the winner of the pageant was Jo dey Alabi from Abuja who became the second Abuja male model to win the title,since the the pageant was established .He took over from Emmanuel Umoh, who made history as he became the first Mister Ideal Nigeria to win the Mister Africa International title.Other Kings who have won the title since, the pageant was introduced are:-Prince Ehirim

-Jide AbiodunMr Ideal Nigeria is a prominent pageant in the West Africa,some regard the pageant as one of the continent ‘s biggest male pageant.The winner of the pageant is given an opportunity to represent,Nigeria in international pageants these being,Mister Africa International and Mr Universal Ambassador.While runner ups respectively ,participate at Mr Tourism World and Man of The Year pageant.

From catwalking at the ramp to the acting stage.South African model has been trending on social media for his editorial modelling as his pictures as photogenic,commerical and runway model are being liked by many.In an interview with Terrence Maphumulo he provides an adventure about his biography in the Modelling industry in addition,we learn more about his other talent in the arts industry (acting).And how he has managed to work close with some prominent people in the world of fashion .


Q:Has the industry been welcoming to you ?

A:The industry has been more than welcoming to me , because from the start of my career until now . All that I have been meeting in the industry are helpful, talented people . People that I share a lot of similarities and I definitely want to see my self grow and collaborate with as we share our crafts. In that regards I will say ,yes the industry has positively been welcoming.




Q:Which brands are you aiming to work with in the fashion industry ?

A:Thebe Magugu a renowned International fashion designer (The brand recently dropped something at the Vogue recently) ;Rich Mnisi another talented SA designer;Laduma Maxhosa I am sure every single model would love to work with Maxhosa’s brand.

These three brands are part of our best South African designers . In terms of commercial brands I am open to work with any brands.


Q:Who has been supporting your journey in the modelling sector and how have they been doing so?A:I would like to thank my mother, who has been there on my side since the first day I emerged in the industry . MY mother has been there when I am having difficulties,she has been my ear when I needed advise on what steps to take next . Also starting model at an early stage, I started when I was dependent on her to get me through financial and emotional ,to help me see me grow.


Q:Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A:A renowned actor, shooting block bluster movies.I see myself as one of the greatest actors in Africa to look out for .




Q:Take us to your journey in the industry?

A:My journey started in 2011,in Campus when I entered a pageant and I emerged victorious. And then I got an opportunity to be scouted a model scout who was judging the pageant recruited me to shoot at their studio and signed me at the agency . Although it wasn’t as easy when I started off,as I started to be booked big campaigns in 2016 .

Q:What is one misconception that had been labelled over male models and the modelling industry ?
A:One main misconception labelled against male models is that in order for you to get books or more bookings ,you have to be overly friendly with designers,clients or curators etc. Which through experience ,I learnt that it was false. You are just required to be professional, be on time when needed and do your job to your best. This will be forever easy for you to get your next booking. The misconception has been around however it doesn’t happen that way .


Q:We celebrated Africa Month last month ,how are you celebrating Africa day ?

A:I celebrated Africa day by dedicating much of my time ,in learning and expanding my knowledge on other African tribe’s about their roots . This is what I try by all means to only mingle but to have conversations with my fellow African brothers ,who are in here to know more about their culture roots . For I have my brothers from Zimbabwe to Congo etc .



Q:Which African tribe’s roots are you planning to learn about their culture?

A:Nigerian (Igbo tribe) I am fascinated by the difference tribe’s they have which is more similar as in South Africa. I discovered that they have different tribe’s within the nations just like us and they have so many language. I hope to learn their language fluent at sometime.


Q:What are you two rules before you stand behind the camera?

A:First rule is grooming, I must make sure I am well groomed ,a day or two days I must make sure I am well groomed.I understand my inter versatile, I have to be on point all the time
2:I should take my job serious but not myself. modelling is very close to acting.
If a client tells me to embody the body of a 16 year old I should , which means I take my job seriously

TELLING AFRICAN STORY THROUGH MODELING

Knowing who you are, your roots it’s one of the most important things especially in the African society.Inspired by the first African tribe’s that dwelled in Zimbabwe,the paintings and other archaeology evidence.Zimbabwean model Simon Peter Tenga teamed up with a term to create a project which highlights the roots of Africans in other words they are telling African story using the modelling platform .


Q: How would you describe the way you entered the modelling industry ?
A:I once was Chipawo student where much arts grooming took place and to attain my heart desires and great passion l ventured into.


Q:Taking you back to one of my pic,sharing with you its concept and story behindA:Well Back to the national painted mountains, caves and rocks.Where we see painted people in different colours- trying ,to show us some originality of their cultures and tribes they used to be. As generations are changing day by day they are some of the things we have not been seen but we hear . So in my art concept l expressed the world Zimbabwe a communication our stone age people used to blow horns as a call for dance ,wedding ceremony etc
They used paint themselves when hunting and war times come to hide and quick approach for the enemy.

Firstly we went in mining dumped area Mutoro in Rain Mine Bindura then we entered into a tall green and brown grass.




Q: One might wonder,what steps do you take as a model when selecting a photographer?
A:As you plan, outfit, venue,make-up, hair ,props etc these should tell you need clear pictures, skin retouch, good editing etc


Q:The modelling lndustry has been branched by many as a fitness and masculine sectors what your take ?

A:Some bodies are not meant for so exercise ,caring of my health

and carrying weights here and there will keep me in shape.




Q: And how far has that ideology affected the modelling industry that for one to be a model has to work out and fit?
A:Some parties and designers in the industry rejects models cause they are not muscular, so what matters most is you accepting who you are and embracing yourself.

A:My mentor KelvinApplepapi looking forward to international Mr Passy


Q: In arts industry whom are you looking forward to work with and why?
A:Blessing Mutamba,Sir Ben Chest,Lucia Mazhou ,Shadel Noble to mention but a few in the industry who have performed to an international standard.


Q: Since you joined modelling industry in Zimbabwe who has welcomed you?
A:Dermaco the model ,Martin Uladi and Ishamael Murangandi.


Q: What are your major plans that you planning in the next 4years to come?
A:- pace settler for the better pageant king.
-set a higher level of marketed brand name and to raise the awareness of the male child

IN A CONVERSATION WITH ANTHONY MISTER WORLD SA 2021 RUNNER UP


Prominently known as a fitness model, Anthony Sikanadze made a mark to the world that he is part of the modelling pageant family as he took the second position during ,Mister World South Africa.In an interaction with him, he shares with us some of his memories that he had during the pageant .We also learn more about his future plans in the world of pagentry.


Q:Congratulations in winning one of the biggest titles in the Modeling sector in South Africa,what three words do you have to describe the title ?

A- What an honour

Q:Can you share with us the atmosphere of the event since it was hosted during the COVID 19pandemic?
A.It was alive and welcoming, everyone was spaced as per the restrictions but everyone was full of joy just being there. The crowd made me more excited to be on stage.


Q. Did you ever thought that you will make it to the top of the pageant’s top two ?
A.Never in my wildest dreams.


Q.This was one of your first pageants in the modelling industry during the COVID. How has the pandemic affected your career ?
A.It was yes, well I would say both negatively and positively. Negative in that I was not able to train and compete in bodybuilding events but positive in that I came up with alternative ways to train and challenge myself.

Q.As the runner up what are is your main focus in terms of Community projects ?
A.Mental health, I am strong believer that healthy minds will lead to a healthy world.

Q.Any plans of participating in other local or international pageants? –
A.At the moment I have qualified to compete at the
Mr Grand International competition, date and venue TBA but I suspect it will be in the Philippines.

Q.How did you celebrate your Africa day ?
A.With my loved ones around a dinner table.


Q.What message do you have to young aspiring male models?
A.Believe in yourself and never give up, your dreams manifest in due time.

On the 25th of May,the African continent which holds more than 52 nations and whose residents are across the globe,celebrated Africa day .Africa day celebrations were marked by, people cooking African delish dishes, wearing of African prints. In an exclusive interview with Ayotunde Twitch the co-founder of Mister Africa International he shares with us, how the modelling industry has evolved in Africa and in addition, he shares with us on how he marked his celebrations of his African roots.


Q.What do you love about your race (being an African)A.I love almost everything about being African . We have had a very tough journey but we keep pushing and not giving up. But the thing I love most is our rich African heritage , it just stands out !



Q.When you founded Mister Africa International what role were you anticipating for the pageant to play in the continent?A.Pageants have a major role in helping to build confidence and that’s what I wanted to see


Q Currently what are some of the achievements the pageant has managed to achieve?A.I am grateful to all the National directors of Mister Africa International , together we have been able to achieve a lot internationally and nationally. From building schools in South Sudan , to gifting kids in Ghana school supplies and most recently scholarship to disabled children in Eastern Nigeria , I am most grateful for the opportunity to serve .


Q.What should be done to improve Africa’s male modeling pageants competition?A.There is a stigma about male models. Dare I say it but there is this toxic masculinity amongst Africans but I am happy to see that gradually that is changing and people can be their own definition of masculine which is what I want to see in the male modeling industry .
