The Heritage Hero: Mr. Heritage Zimbabwe 1st Runner-Up Opens Up About Culture, Identity, and Ambition

The Heritage Hero: Mr. Heritage Zimbabwe 1st Runner-Up Opens Up About Culture, Identity, and Ambition

As we sit down with the charming and charismatic Mr. Heritage Zimbabwe 1st runner-up, we can’t help but feel inspired by his passion for cultural heritage and his commitment to promoting unity and understanding among different communities.

Growing up, I was always fascinated by the rich cultural heritage of Zimbabwe, he says. From the vibrant traditional clothing to the mouth-watering local cuisine, I was captivated by the diversity and complexity of our cultural practices. As I grew older, I realized that our cultural heritage is not just a reflection of our past, but also a key to our future. It has shaped my personal identity and worldview by teaching me the importance of community, respect, and tradition.

One cultural tradition that I hold dear is the practice of “Ubuntu,” he continues. Ubuntu is a Shona word that means “humanity towards others.” It’s a philosophy that emphasizes the importance of community, mutual respect, and compassion. I believe that Ubuntu can be used to promote unity and understanding among different cultures by encouraging people to look beyond their differences and focus on their shared humanity.

The Mr. Heritage Zimbabwe competition was an incredible experience that pushed me to my limits, he recalls. To prepare, I spent countless hours researching and learning about Zimbabwe’s cultural heritage, practicing my public speaking skills, and perfecting my traditional dance moves. The competition was tough, but it was also a valuable learning experience that taught me the importance of perseverance, hard work, and dedication.

As Mr. Heritage Zimbabwe 1st runner-up, I believe that I have a responsibility to use my platform to promote cultural awareness, understanding, and appreciation, he says. I hope to convey the message that our cultural heritage is a valuable resource that can bring people together, promote unity, and inspire positive change. I also hope to inspire young people to take pride in their cultural heritage and to become ambassadors for their communities.

In the future, I plan to continue promoting my cultural heritage and values through various initiatives, including cultural festivals, traditional dance performances, and community outreach programs, he says. I also hope to pursue a career in cultural heritage management, where I can work to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Zimbabwe for future generations.

My advice to young people would be to take pride in their cultural heritage and to become ambassadors for their communities, he concludes. I would also encourage them to be curious, open-minded, and respectful of other cultures, and to seek out opportunities to learn from and engage with people from different backgrounds. By doing so, they can help to promote cultural understanding, exchange, and cooperation, and make a positive impact on their communities and the world at large.

Roland’s journey in the world of pageantry is not new, having previously been crowned one of the runners-up in the Mister Heritage Zimbabwe competition. This experience has prepared him for the bigger stage, and he is now vying for the top spot in the Misters of Zimbabwe pageant.

Roland’s journey as a contestant in the Misters of Zimbabwe pageant has been impressive, with him dominating the beach wear contests and showcasing his confidence and charisma on stage. With his sights set on the top prize, Roland is eyeing a historic win, aiming to become the first Matabeleland North model to take home the title.

Roland’s desire to preserve Zimbabwe’s cultural identity is at the heart of his pageant journey. He believes that cultural tourism is a vital contributor to the country’s GDP and aims to raise awareness about its importance. By promoting cultural heritage, Roland hopes to create opportunities for economic growth, job creation, and cultural exchange.

However, Roland’s preparation for the pageant has not been without its challenges. He has faced frustration in securing partnerships with creatives who are willing to support his cause. Despite these setbacks, Roland remains committed to his vision and is determined to make a positive impact.

As an advocate for Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4), Roland firmly believes that quality education is the key to success. To support this goal, he has launched a project to provide essential educational materials to school children in rural communities. His aim is to provide one student with one book, one pen, one pencil, and one ruler.

Roland has already begun implementing this project in schools like Masuwe Primary School, albeit on a small scale. His dream is to expand this initiative to four primary schools in his region. The community has responded positively to this initiative, recognizing the importance of providing their children with the tools they need to succeed.

Roland is calling on individuals, corporate organizations, and well-wishers to support his project. Together, they can make a meaningful difference in the lives of Zimbabwe’s children and contribute to the preservation of the country’s cultural heritage.

“When the entries opened, I saw an opportunity to chase my dreams, to display my skills on a pageantry platform, and be able to use my participation to draw attention to worthy causes,” he said

Mmoloki’s passion for adult literacy stems from his childhood observations of how a lack of education can hinder people’s daily lives. He’s seen firsthand how not being able to read, write, or count can limit opportunities and create stigma.

“My advocacy in adult literacy initiatives is part of an effort to address these issues,” Mmoloki said.

He further added, “I will create awareness on the challenges faced by people who are not able to read or write and count, and that something can be done to address adult literacy shortcomings.”

The crowning ceremony was attended by the reigning Mister Supranational 2024, Dr. Fezile Mkhize, who was also the official host of the event.

As Mister Supranational Namibia 2025, Mmoloki will have the opportunity to showcase his country’s culture and values on the international stage.
