A beauty queen’s reign is usually associated with celebration, photographs, appearances and dreams of representing her country on an international stage. For Malaika Mushandu, however, her Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe journey has taken an unexpected turn, transforming a moment of achievement into a deeply personal and public dispute.
Mushandu was crowned Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe 2026, stepping into a title that carried expectations of international representation and new opportunities. But her reign was short-lived after the organisation announced that she had been dethroned.
