Fitness, body building and underwear model are some of the characteristics that are used to describe Ghananian model,Prince In an interview with Prince Affum ,he talks about his journey in the Modeling industry and how he has managed to be a successful bodybuilder and to be a brand ambassador of one of the most prominent male underwear brand in Africa .Q:Why did you selected fitness and underwear modeling?A:. I honestly have great passion in underwear modeling. A:Simply because its of good qualityQ:Who introduced you into modeling fitness and underwear world?
A:I have a good friend who goes by the stage name “Clem Locs”.He is also a good underwear and fitness model.Q:Which other underwear lines are you hoping to work with in future ?
A:I will be honoured to work with Yarrison.Q:Prince you are also involved into bodybuilding can you tell us more about it?
A: Its of great texture,quality with less pressure and above all gives me a perfect look.Q:Since you joined modelling how has your life changed ?
A:I have had alot of exposure in since i started modelling. This has influenced my way of seeing the world as my runway, so with every where I go and whatever i do must communicate through my looks.
Therefore i possess an undisputed character when it comes to keeping a unique profile with what i wear and how i move.Q:What do you think should be done to improve fitness underwear modeling in Africa?

  • Q:The world, closed gyms due to COVID 19 how did you manage to be working out?

A:I have my personal homemade gym so i basically work out at home.Which is safe for me .

MULTI AWARD WINNING NIGERIAN DESIGNER, BRINGS SEXYNESS IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY

When you opt for purchasing a sexy unique underwear,as a male customer in Africa.Your sexuality is questioned,leading to one to be shy and afraid of purchasing their favourite types of briefs.This motivated the founder of the Dafe Umute to establish,a unique underwear brand.In an exclusive interview, he tells us about some of the reasons that have influenced his brand to design sexy male underwears.Also he tells us more about the awards he has won since,his brand was establishedQ.What type of underwear does your brand mainly focused on ?
A.It focuses in all kinds of underwear,from briefs to boxer briefs,Jockstraps all underwear for everyone we are a unisex brand.
Our products allow our clients to express themselves the way they feel and whole point is to be comfortable with your skin and that is the whole idea behind the brand.
We are trying to encourage people to wear sexy underwear,with out shame and fear .
Q.Describe the line of your brand in three words ?
A.sexy and not trash
Q.Last year you won the Best swimsuit design award during the NIHAA awards what did the recognition meant to you as a designer and as. brand ?
A:The award is a very important and special award,I have won almost 22 awards and that was my last award.
It meant a lot to me because that was about Humanity and I am kind of a person who is all into that and acceptance.
Last year was a very difficult year for the world.
To be able to be seen as a brand that deserves such recognition,despite what we are going through it means a lot .
I am grateful to the organisers.
Q:Which materials do you as a team use to make sure that your clients feel comfortable with your product ?
A:We use all kinds of fabrics for the underwear,as the are different and they require different types of fabrics.
But most of the type I use cotton and Polyester as they are comfortable and breath air.
Q:Speaking about clients who is your clientilee?
A:Those who want to wear nice,to be sexy and those whom when they take of their clothes people stair as they want to see what they are wearing underneath,which is really sexy .
Q.This year you introduced a 3 months underwear/bikini designing masterclasses how was the response from your call ?
A:It was amazing as I received,a number of responses that I wasn’t expecting to. However I had requested a limited number of people,to attend the seminar. Next time I promise to have more people.
Q.What do you think is the main impact that has contributed for Africa to have less male underwear brands ?
A.Most people in the African Community believe,that it’s not important in fashion to focus in the underwear sector.
Also I wanted to create an awareness that its yet and is part of the fashion industry.
Q.With COVID 19 in our presences how are you managing to reach out to your local and international clients ?
A.Currently I am on hold,when it comes to shipping our product,outside Nigeria.

ZIM-JAMAICAN MODEL BROKE THE WALLS TO REACH HIS GOAL

Demarcko derives from Jamaica, when he came to Zimbabwe he had no idea that he was going to be part of Africa’s modeling industry. With encouragement coming from family and friends,Hope was not lost in Demarcko .He kept his faith high as he believes that his destined to be one of the ‘A’ listers in Africa’s modeling industry.Q:When did you took a decision that your next step was being a model?
A:It was Last year November after after Prom.

Q:What are the obstacles that you faced after you made the decision ?
A:My friends didn’t believe I could do it and used to laugh at me saying I wasn’t capable of doing something and that I never stick to one thing for instance. I’m always going out ,even my mom told me once that it was a bad idea and after all she didn’t see any career coming from the modelling sector but now she does and is happy.

Q:Where do you believe your modelling career is taking you in the next coming years ?
A:I would like to do more runway modeling and even commercial modeling. The reason behind this is because I want it to expose me to different markets.

Q:The industry has been facing a number of challenges with many believing that being muscular is another, attribute that defines a model (what’s your comment on that)?
A: I think personally that world is evolving each and everyday and it would be unfair if we stick to the same norms of a model must be a certain type of way” its the same way in which in the female modeling industry we now have plus sized models. Short models and petite models so my take is we have to adjust our

outlook on modules just as the word is changing.Q:You original roots are traced not in Africa but in the Central part of America, how has your roots played a role in your modelling career ?
A:Well back at home I’m the only one who took this path to be a model we 12 in total 3 girls and the rest are boys some of my siblings are at school .The rest are working but they all got it under control ,I’m the only one who decided to be different i didn’t want to be statistic.

Q: International and regional shows are starting to take part as the world was under lockdown due to COVID 19, International which shows would you like to attended?A:The shows I would pick is to attend New York fashion week and would love to be on that runway. I would also like to attend the Paris fashion week like recently i was given a offer by fabiani collection but i declined it.Q:How has joining CFM models changed your life?

A:Joining CfM has shown different specters of modeling. It has changed my life in fact, that has exposed me more to different people in this industry who all have one goal. And its changed my life by helping me grow as a person and as a model its made me more responsible and more accommodative of others. I’ve learned not to judge others as well.

Q:Which African countries are you hoping to travel to …A:Mauritius.Nigeria.Tanzania.NigeriaNamibia

Catwalking in an international pageant has always been part of hisQ:To someone who wasn’t present during the Fashion Without Borders,fashion show what words can you use to describe the atmosphere of the event ?A:Fashion Without Boarders has a vibrant and exciting atmosphere about it; right from the day of casting to actual event day, there’s never a dull moment around models and top notch designers.
Actual event day was the obvious highlight of my entire experience. The beautiful but elegant setup at the famous Hilton hotel was just breathtaking and the wonderful ambiance and audience just made the night extra special. It was definitely an experience I’d love to relive over and over again.
Q:The event was both virtual and now virtual .As a runway model what is your take of virtual fashion shows and how are they a beneficiary to you as. model ?A: Virtual fashion shows are changing the industry and I personally think that we should have a positive outlook on them.
Thanks to technology we are able to reduce costs while providing a realistic experience for both the physical and virtual audience, thereby exposing brands to a larger potential customer base.
I see virtual fashion shows as an upgrade to the fashion industry and a safety measure in the time of the covid19 pandemic.
Q:Which fashion shows are you planning to take part in future ?A: My dream is to one day cat in Paris Fashion Week, SA Fashion Week, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week as well as New York fashion week.
Q:If COVID 19 fades away as a model do you think, fashion modeling should continue not the digital side ?
A: I think that it should continue on both sides as this exposes brands to an expanded audience.
Q:Who is your Inspiration
A: I am inspired by Tyra Banks, mainly because of how diverse and business minded she is a fashion model.
She is a go getter and my number one ‘diva’ and I dream of being scouted by her one day.
WHO IS PHUMLA TWALA ?
Born and raised In Naledi Ext 2, Soweto; Phumla Thokozile Twala is the first daughter of Phindiwe Mthembu.
I am a 21 year old high fashion model who began her model career straight after matriculating from high school in 2016.
I have always had a love for clothing and fashion from as far as I can remember.
As a little girl I would always imitate those vogue magazine models to the amusement of my family. I am currently studying marketing management and working as a logistics assistant.
I am passionate about modelling even though I only get to do it part time now because of my other commitments.
I have participated in quiet a few fashion shows and I am currently signed up with Blaze Models, which has all been an amazing experience and journey so far.
My biggest and most memorable show thus far has to be the Miss Soweto Pageant; the feeling of walking on that ramp and working with both local and international designers was just out of this world. I am looking forward to bigger and better shows and even better experiences.

The year 2017,was the year when Derrick Ocloo broke the ice as he stepped into his new career, of being a model. Not knowing that years to follow he is going to be nominated in numerous, modeling and fashion awards.2021 has also turned out to be the biggest year for the Ghananian model,Derrick Ocloo as he has been nominated in a number of awards.In an exclusive interview with him,we learn more about his journey and also how his nominations have changed his career.Q:You have been nominated at the Ghana Style Awards can you tell us more about your nomination?
A: I was nominated for the Ghana style awards due to my outstanding works which needs to be recognized for which am very grateful .Q:This is not the first nomination of awards in your country this year ,what do you think your nomination in several awards means about your career?
A: My nominations in several awards means that , my effort and contribution towards the fashion industry is been noticed and appreciated.Q:State some of the runway shows you have been part of?
A:I have been on Tema Black art street festivalwhich was my first on time on the runway. Also been on Accra fashion week, Bryte African Fashion Week and Modest Fashion WeekQ:In Africa which fashion brands do you want to catwalk for ….
A: In Africa , I would like to walk for some brands like Mish Mega Collections from Ghana, Laduma Maxhosa from South Africa, Don Morphy from Cameroon, Thebe Magugu from South Africa and Tongoro from Senegal.Q:What type of steps do you take to make sure you nail it when ever you appear in a runway ramp?
A:I rehearse my walk on my own days before the show. On the day of the main event, I get the event centre as early as possible to familiarize myself with the environment and also rehearse my stylish walk on the event runway once again for couple of minutes before the main event begins which has helped me nailed my performance on the runway.Q:What has made you to be a successful model?
A:My looks and appearance which some prominent people in the fashion industry claim to be international standard , my outstanding photoshoots and constant rehearsals has helped meto become a successful model.Q:What do you think makes Ghana’s modelling industry to be unique?
A:The friendly and harmonious environment among the Ghanaian models is breath taking and when it comes to the wonderful stylish and catwalk performances by Ghanaian models on the runway, is because we have wonderful legendary choreographers in our modelling industry.Q:Away in Africa which runway shows do you want to work in as a model ?
A: Away from Africa, I would like to be in New York Fashion week, Paris Fashion week, Milan Fashion week and Russian fashion week.Q:Briefly tell us about your modelling background?
A: I am a shy type and have low level of confidence but had interest in becoming a model . I watched a lot of fashion shows on the television and my interest for modelling grew more. Later part in 2017, I decided to pick up courage to face my fears to join the fashion industry by join a modelling agency to receive the necessary training to qualify me as a professional model. I engaged in professional photoshoots to help promote my brand and since then , found myself on couple of runway shows.

“EACH TIME l POSE I MAKE SURE THAT THE STORY BEHIND THE PICTURE IS POETIC”

Whenever Mayo poses infront of a smart phone or any digital camera, one is always left with questions such as ,where Mayo derives from or what inspires his poses.In addition when one browsers through his social media accounts:Instagram, Facebook you will agree that his one of models in Zimbabwe whose social media accounts is gaining following day by day.In an interaction with Mayo he tells us how,he manages to tell us what has made his picture to be unique compared to other models.He further gives us tips on the importance of grooming.Q:What is your main secret in working with the camera to produce incredible pictures as a model ?
A: I don’t have a secret per say, it’s all about setting the right tone for the theme and turning into and capturing yourself in the moment
Q:What lesson do you want to bring,when ever you pose for a picture ?
A: A pose tells a story about the picture so each time l pose I make sure that the story behind the picture is poetic and in sync with the theme.
Q:Style and fashion is also part of your life.Who is your style Amuse?
A: I’ve got quite a few who influence different opposing sides of my style but top of the list is Kanye West and Blake Scott respectively.
Q:You migrated to SA ,as a model what are some of the lessons that Africa can obtain from the Southern African country?
A: We have to raise our standards to the global level and not just for Africa, there’s so much to show of the Southern African modeling scene.
Q:Which brands across the continent are you hoping to be their brand ambassador in the future?
A: I’d probably be honored to collaborate with Scarless designs, David Tlale, Rich Mnisi amongst a few others.
Q:Can you provide tips on how one can keep themselves smart?
A: Setting high personal standards in hygiene, taste and lifestyle. Everything resonates around that

PRINCE ZULU DEBUTS HIS FIRST INTERNATIONAL RUNWAY SHOW

Lungile Mzwandile Zulu the Prince of Mr Zimbabwe pagentry,made history so he participated in his first ever, international fashin show. The Fashion Without Borders JHB fashion show,was held last month on the 26th of March.The event was showcased digital allowing viewers from different countries

to be in the front row of the ramp.
The show was hosted digital due to the COVID 19 restrictions.Prince Zulu who was part of the models who appeared during the exhibition of the collection by Sanz,stated out that he was glad to edit part of the event and also to participate as a model under the award winning Zimbabwean brand ‘Sanz’.I auditioned for show via the designer at Sanz’s design. It was Inspiration because I had the chance to be part of the story telling of how the designs came about. The story of a blank canvas meeting a beautiful african cultured muse.

” The story is a transformation of nomads trader adopting culture. The design I was wearing it tells the inbetween part of the story, where the canvas is starting to adapt to the african beautiful culture,”explained Lungile.
Lungile informed that when the curtains of Fashion Without Borders JHB went done,it wasn’t the end chapter for him to work with the exclusive fashion brand,SANZ and he hopes to work with The GENTLEMAN brand.
When questioned about his role that he has played as the Prince of Mister Zimbabwe to the community, he informed that he has projects that are lined up however due to COVID 19 pandemic and National Lockdown. He has’nt been able to reach out to his community,however his hoping to work with the community of Zimbabw

e in the coming months. Zulu applaud the job that was done by his predecessor, Ishamel who is currently the franchiser of Mister Globe.

Lungile further praised the mentorship of the leader of Fingers Agency and Truth Academy (Sarah Mpofu and Pardon Khaya respectively).
