Little Mister and Miss Zimbabwe is a pageant for children aged 3-12years and Teen Star International for teens aged 13-19years.

“Modeling is an art and through modeling we discover talents in most children. We realized that children needs to be natured, encouraged and supported for them to have confidence in what they do,”said the organisers.

The first pageant was hosted online and some of the models have managed to get endorsement from  different brands such as  Edgars Stores for commercial modeling and some are expected to be representing Zimbabwe at Little Mister and Miss Africa which will be hosted in Uganda  and Teen Star International which will be hosted in Bangkok Thailand.

The Grand Finale of selecting Little Mister and Mister Zimbabwe will be hosted at Marina Convention Center LongCheng Plaza Harare on the 16th of April 2022. Voting started in February and for different age categories.

The theme this year is ‘Presidents Against Child Abuse (PACA),the theme is set aside at a time when Zimbabwe has recorded a number of deaths of adults due to Covid-19, therefore, children that are left behind suffer neglect which leads to matters that affect their health and development such as access to education, access to food, housing and clean living conditions, health care, adequate clothing, personal hygiene and adequate supervision. “I STAND AGAINST CHILD ABUSE” .

“Child abuse  has risen at an alarming rate, and as children we would like to raise awareness through this pageant, ending the cases of child abuse and child killing rituals. The voice of a President has authority therefore we would like them to act and speak on child abuse,”said the organisers

*Presidents Against Child Abuse (PACA)* (the voice of a President can change a room and if the voice can change a room it can change a city, the same voice can end Child Abuse).

This is followed by the high-profile trio of Cape Town-based Helon Melon who wowed audiences in 2021 with her all-white, sustainable collection, fashion forward Judith Atelier, an ardent supporter of South African mohair and perennial fashion week darling, Palesa Mokubung of Mantsho.

An exciting new collaboration between designers Fabrice Moyo of Franc Elis, menswear brands Floyd Avenue and Ephymol, with KwaZulu-Natal-based and proudly South African shoe manufacturers Eddels, Evox and Hopewell Footwear respectively, marks an exciting grand finale for the Spring/Summer 22 Collection, says SAFW director, Lucilla Booyzen.“This mutually supportive opportunity for synergistic brands to benefit from each other’s creativity, reputation, reach, and of course, budget, is certainly an example of the type of undertaking that would allow us to map creative ways to bolster the creative design industry going forward,” she believes.

The South African Footwear and Leather Export Council (SAFLEC) is proud to be making industry history with its inaugural association with SA Fashion Week this year, says Nerisha Jairaj, executive director of SAFLEC.  “We are thrilled to be flying our “Made in South Africa” banner with the debut of three of our most exciting footwear brands for men on this high profile and prestigious platform so that a wider audience may discover the remarkable capability of fashion South Africa.”

According to Booyzen, SA Fashion Week recognises the pivotal role played by its corporate partners, collaborators, and supporters in sustaining the creative fashion design industry.“The SA Fashion Week has engaged with like-minded stakeholders for the past 25 years, both to develop and maintain its position in the industry, but also to leverage and share the spotlight that our platform provides to boost awareness and real bottom line results for our partners.

The investments made over the years for example, by The Mall of Africa, OPPO, CARLTON HAIR, M.A.C. as well as luxury brand Cruz Vodka, have contributed directly to building the creative fashion design industry we have today. It is this investment that has enabled us to unearth, nurture, support, market and sell the designer collections, and which allows a brilliant young designer to become a job-creating contributor to the country’s GDP,” she says.

Mall of Africa is proud to host the South African Fashion Week (SAFW)’22 Spring Summer Collections,
for the third consecutive year, and remains devoted to supporting local South African fashion designers by providing the platform for exposure to the consumer market, says Michael Clampett, Asset &
Property Management Executive for Attacq Limited.

According to Vanessa Campbell, consumer marketing manager of M.A.C. the beauty brand’s cult status among South African consumers speaks volumes of the efficacy of its partnership with SAFW. “It has allowed us to position M.A.C at the forefront of trend setting but also as local, relevant, and tailored to the unique needs of the African consumer now.

Maishe Mambolo, brand manager of Cruz Vodka, believes that fashion reflects the culture of a country. “It’s about more than clothing. Fashion becomes the attitude you wear. People in fashion have an appreciation of art, design, and culture with an affinity for beauty and Cruz Vodka reflects these values. The brand’s return to SAFW for Spring/Summer 2022, marks the renewal of a valuable and bold partnership that celebrates a shared love of fashion and the avant-garde and allows Cruz Vodka to express its connection with the world of creation, it desires to re-write the rules, to inspire, to experiment and to invent,” he says.

MEET LETHABO BALOYI AKA MISTER TSHWANE

The title Mister Tshwane is one of the most recognized male modeling titles in South Africa as it encourages one to spread their wings from being a provincial title holder to an international model title holder. For example the previous holder who had an opportunity to contest for Mister Africa Continental became the first ,Mister Africa Continental title holder. The current reigning King Lethabo Baloyi is planning to also step into the international modeling scene

Q:Can you briefly give us an insight of who you are ? A:Lethabo Baloyi is a student at the University of Pretoria who aspires to be a Chartered Accountant. He is very passionate about youth empowerment and believes that as youth, we have the power to redefine our generation hence he’s involved in numerous NGOs which focus mainly on inspiring, empowering and innovating the youth.

Q:What inspired you to take part for Mister Tshwane completion ?

A:I competed because I saw this an opportunity to develop and better myself as an individual , to expand my growth and also build on my craft. Before joining peagents, you would never find me talking in front of large crowds but after my first peagent which was last year October I was in awe by the amount of confidence I had gained from the few hours of that event. Same thing happened this year with this competition but it was just greater than last year. The opportunities that pageantry exposes you to and recognition you get after winning are just amazing. Last but not least, I competed because I had a believe that it’ll do something that was magically memorable to me and others. This happened and it was so much beyond my expectations because it changed who I am, my vision and everything I once was. This competition taught me so much about myself, and I learned so much about other key things in life from poise, grace, proper communication, building self-confidence, networking and so much more throughout.

Q:What role did your previous modeling experience played during the competition ? A:My previous modeling experience helped me with regards to confidence and trusting myself more, that I more capable, powerful and smarter than I think, and that I should take everything as it comes and not as I foresee it coming.

Q:What is your vision as the reigning Mister Tshwane that is going to benefit your community ?

A:I’ve always believed that as youth, we have the power to redefine our generation because when we unite and raise our voices together, the words “youth power” become more than just a phrase, they become a movement. So, want to use this platform to inspire, empower, innovate and unite the youth. I want to educate and raise awareness that each and every one of us is enough and that we all are beautiful, talented and intelligent  just in different ways especially to people who grew up in poor backgrounds , who tend to look down on themselves solely because of opportunities they were never exposed to.  I have realized that there is a lot of potential in our local communities but no exposure to opportunity. I have also seen and can testify that when you give someone an opportunity to step into their potential they can in one way or another change the world . So, I want to serve as a bridge between potential and opportunity to those people.

Q:That night of he competition did it ever have to your mind that you arecthe winner A:To be quiet honest, I did not know that it was my day because the competition was very tight. Every guy I was competing with literally brought their A-game on that stage which made everything  difficult and not obvious.
