FRENCH DESIGNER AND PERFUME DIES

Paco Rabanne dies aged 88.
Spanish fashion designer and perfume legend Paco Rabanne died in Portsall, France 🇫🇷.

Fast-forward to the 21st Century.

Paco Rabanne is still making waves in perfumery – with fragrances that have captured hearts, and become global blockbusters. Most notably, Lady Million, with its faceted

his name’s still on the lips of perfume lovers all over the world.

A bit of history: Paco Rabanne was born Francisco Rabaneda y Cuervo in 1934, in Pasaïa, in the Basque country of Spain. His mother, a head seamstress at the Spanish couture house of Balenciaga, fled the Spanish Civil War for France, in 1939. ‘Spanish at heart and French by adoption,’ his biography says, ‘Francisco Rabaneda would now be known as Paco Rabanne‘. After studying architecture at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris (which nurtured a deep love of the art world), Rabanne began designing costume jewelry for the greatest couture houses of the day: Nina Ricci, Pierre Cardin, Balenciaga, Courrèges, Givenchy and more…

PACO RABANNE

As perfumer Marcel Carles recalls, it had the most evocative – and racy – brief: ‘Imagine it’s spring. A rich young man arrives in his E-type Jaguar to pick up his girlfriend. Imagine the scent of fast air, speed, and leather seats.

We T40 Perfumes celebrate this legend RIP.

MISTER AFRICA INTERNATIONAL 1ST RUNNER UP KEEPS HIS COMMUNITY GREEN

Everyone has their goals in life and their priorities , just like me too, after all hey I also carry the title of best model in Africa awarded on the day of the contest, but if they believe that they can simply gain prestige only with fashion without getting their hands dirty, I do not say that they are the wrong way, but I advise you to also think about the community to be able to leave a good legacy and be a reference worldwide.

ALL SET FOR TRIBAL CHIC

Tribal Chic, Nairobi’s most eagerly awaited fashion event, is back to celebrate sustainable fashion with a top talent pool of local and international designers. The Tribe Hotel’s Village Market event, which initially took place in 2009, has grown into an annual must-attend.

The 12th iteration of Tribal Chic, which is set for February 4th, 2023, will showcase a creative group of designers with conscientious designs crafted from organic, sustainable, and eco-friendly materials. African Lifestyle Hub, Seamline Atelier, Katush, Deepa Dosaja, Aulgah Nato, Vinkay Clothing, Koki Designs, Shenu Hooda, Lakira, KikoRomeo, and We are NBO are among the artists on the schedule for this year.

The most recent iteration, which took place in 2021, was a huge success.
Tribe Hotel’s dedication to allowing humanity to coexist on one earth as one tribe is what inspired this year’s sustainability theme. The interconnectedness of people and the environment is a major factor in the selection of the hotel’s offerings and projects.

“Tribal Chic is more than a fashion show; it’s a cultural exchange of talent and a showcase for Nairobi’s creative community,” stated Shamim Ehsani, Director, Tribe Hotels Group. Tribal Chic is the fulfillment of these ideas, as well as providing a platform for up-and-coming talent and aiding initiatives that improve the lives of others, continued Ehsani. “Tribe has always represented unity, creativity, and the diversity that exists across Africa.

According to Shamim Ehsani, Director of Tribe Hotels Group, “Consumers are becoming more aware of the environmental impact associated with their travels and fashion choices. Tribe is excited to host a showcase of sustainable fashion designers; featuring their collections of clothing and jewelry, created responsibly, with special attention to the impact on community and climate.

After undergoing significant renovations, Tribe recently reopened; the update took into account not only the physical structure but also the facilities and overall visitor experience on the sit.

According to Mike Mwangi, general manager of Tribe Hotel, “In keeping with the’sustainability’ theme, the hotel’s interiors have been thoughtfully redesigned; a blend of rich deep colors; natural stone, wood, stainless steel, glass, rustic metal, and handmade wooden furniture sourced from local artisans.”

MPENDULO NKOSI EYES FOR MISTER SUPRANATIONAL SOUTH AFRICA TITLE

Pageant director and model, Mpendulo Nkosi,is among South African Kings who are eyeing for Mister SUPRANATIONAL South Africa title .A title that allows one to represent their country at Mister SUPRANATIONAL.Mpendulo Nkosi tells us more about his first experience with other candidates and delegates and his inspiration to contest.

Q.Define yourself,Mpendulo Nkosi ?A.Mpendulo is a boy next door from ekasi, very chilled guy, likes to laugh and interact with people, well-spoken and witty

Q.You are a model and director of Mister  Prestige South Africa how do you manage the two?A. It is pretty difficult I must say because you have to find time for both simultaneously, I’m a student as well that’s also an addition to the occupations but I have an amazing team behind me and a great support system that help me manage everything seamlessly.

Q.Recently  you were named part of Mister Supranational South Africa 2023, what does it mean to you? A. It is such a privilege and an honour to be part of this pageant of this magnitude, it is a platform that allows individuals to be agent of change and that is something I had to be part of, this is my very first pageant I’m competing in and I’m just looking forward to learning new things, to grow as an individual, make new friends and above all to be an inspiration to my generation.

Q.What is your take of other contenders ?A.We recently met at the Mr Supranational South Africa workshop and I interacted with some of the guys and may I say these gentlemen are all incredible and are doing remarkable things in their spheres and each is prepared to do wonders with this title and each one of them could make a great titleholder and make South Africa proud.

Q.What separates you from them?A.I have unique thumb prints that no one on earth has which makes me unique already but in addition to that, I have a non-profit organisation called ‘Healing Lives’ ,that has been in existence for about 10 years now and it’s been thriving since.

Q.How do you handle pressure?A.Self affirmation helps deal with pressure, just telling yourself that you’re capable of doing anything you set your mind to and also I do meditation exercises every morning just center my energy but most importantly I pray. I give everything to God and he does the rest.

Q.Can you describe an incident when you managed to help someone who was a stranger in your life?A.I would’nt put it as an incident but an opportunity to help someone, there are a few of them actually but a recent one that really touched my heart was when I did one of my mentor programs, ‘Boys to Men’, where I mentor young boys from 12-19 and  I was one of the speakers at the session and this young boy who came to the session told me that motivstion speaking , actually helped him in so many ways because he had lost direction and was at the brink of suicide and he added that it was as if God sent me to speak to him directly and he thanked me for that .This  made me realise that when you think you’re just doing a small deed it actually makes so much difference in someone’s life.

Q.Why is charity work important  in the modelling sector?A.It shouldn’t just be important in the modelling sector but it should be something that each and every one of us do for each other, it is better the hand that gives than the one that receives and it’s so sad to see that some pageant contestants only use advocacies as a means to get ahead in the competition only to drop it after competing. It should be an on going thing even after competing, a pageant should be a platform to raise awareness of these socioeconomic issues.

Q.Any wise words to models who want to represent their country international ?A.Follow your passion even if you feel that the odds may be against you, if it’s important to you do it!

MR BODY BEAUTIFUL CREATES A PLATFORM THAT CULTIVATES AFRICAN MEN AS PROTECTORS OF WOMEN, CHILDREN AND THEIR COMMUNITIES AT LARGE.

MR BODY BEAUTIFUL CREATES A PLATFORM THAT CULTIVATES AFRICAN MEN AS PROTECTORS OF WOMEN, CHILDREN AND THEIR COMMUNITIES AT LARGE.

For a long time, being muscular was viewed with perceptions of being powerful only in the physical spectrum. Today, that narrative has changed: it’s viewed as a way of one being healthy and sexy. While other men have taken extremes such as bullying others and committing gender-based violent crimes, others have chosen the opposite end of that stick, and Mr Body Beautiful prides itself has the spearhead for that.

South Africa is among the top in the world where records of women abuse cases or femicide are concerned.

Founder and Director of Mr Body Beautiful, Andile Vinjiwe, paints a picture that being muscular doesn’t translate to an abusive attitude. He created this platform that has a vision to cultivate socially conscious men, hence the name —that men, too, may have a beautiful nature. This is a three-pronged project in which young men take care of their bodies whilst they look after their minds and souls through mentorship and various intervention programs.

The main mission of the platform is for the brand to be recognised globally as a leading men’s community-building brand.

The platform reaffirms and redefines their masculinity, offering an alternative narrative that as a man one can express one’s deep and true emotions —one is not destined to be an angry young Black man that abuses substances, is violent and creates panic in one’s community.

Mr Body Beautiful is not a body building brand but a brand that empowers men in comprehensive Health and Fitness.

Those who have participated in the project before managed to attend life coaching sessions, motivational workshops, mentorship programs, acting classes and more.

A Mind and Soul that is beautiful is protected from ill mental health.

The platform has not only assisted participants in health and fitness areas, but it has also groomed them for the entertainment and fashion industries as fitness models and own brand entrepreneurs and ambassadors.

We look forward to seeing Mr Body Beautiful SA 2023 and Mr Body Beautiful Nigeria 2023.
