As he prepares to compete in the inaugural edition of Misters of Botswana and make his mark at Compton Fashion Week, he shares his aspirations, the lessons that have shaped his journey and the legacy he hopes to leave for future generations.
In this exclusive interview with My Afrika Magazine, Quinton opens up about his inspirations, his vision for Botswana’s growing fashion industry and why every young person should have the courage to own their story.

Q: Congratulations on winning the Impressive Power of Botswana Award at Misters of Botswana. What does this recognition mean to you, and how has it motivated you ahead of the inaugural competition?
A: Winning the Impressive Power of Botswana Award is a great honour and a reminder that hard work, resilience and authenticity are recognised. It has motivated me to continue representing Botswana with excellence, humility and purpose. This recognition has strengthened my belief that I can use my platform to inspire others and make a meaningful impact in our communities.

Q: You are among the contestants making history in the very first edition of Misters of Botswana. What inspired you to enter the competition, and what message do you hope to share through your journey?
A: I entered Misters of Botswana because I believe the platform is about much more than appearance. It is an opportunity to advocate for youth empowerment, mental health awareness, talent development and inclusive leadership. My message is that true masculinity includes kindness, compassion, vulnerability and the courage to uplift others. I want young people to know that their background should never limit their dreams.

Q: As a fashion model, how would you describe your personal style? Which fashion trends, designers or icons have had the greatest influence on the way you present yourself?
A: My style is modern, elegant and confident with an African touch. I enjoy wearing well-tailored suits, smart casual outfits and clothing that reflects both professionalism and creativity. I admire designers and fashion leaders who celebrate African culture while embracing global trends. I believe fashion should tell a story about who you are.

Q: You are set to walk at Compton Fashion Week. How are you preparing for this opportunity, and what are you most looking forward to on the runway?
A: I am preparing through regular fitness training, practising my runway walk, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and building my confidence. I am excited to showcase my growth as a model, connect with talented designers and creatives, and proudly represent Botswana on a larger stage.

Q: Modelling is about more than appearance. What qualities do you believe define a successful modern male model, both on and off the runway?
A: A successful model should be disciplined, professional, respectful, confident and adaptable. Off the runway, integrity, strong communication skills and a commitment to continuous learning are just as important. A model should also use their influence to inspire positive change and be a role model within the community.

Q: Botswana’s fashion industry continues to grow. In your opinion, what more needs to be done to help local models and designers gain greater recognition across Africa and internationally?
A: We need stronger partnerships between government, the private sector, fashion organisations and the media. More investment in training, mentorship, international collaborations and digital marketing would help showcase Botswana’s talent to the world. Supporting local designers and creating more platforms for young creatives will strengthen our fashion industry.

Q: Every model has a memorable moment that shaped their career. Looking back so far, what has been your proudest achievement or most unforgettable experience?
A: One of my proudest moments has been being selected as a contestant for the inaugural Misters of Botswana and receiving the Impressive Power of Botswana Award. These experiences have shown me that dedication and perseverance open doors, and they have inspired me to keep striving for excellence.

Q: The modelling industry can be highly competitive. How do you maintain your physical fitness, mental well-being and confidence while pursuing your goals?
A: I maintain my fitness through regular exercise, healthy eating and proper rest. For my mental well-being, I focus on self-reflection, positive relationships, prayer and maintaining a healthy balance between my personal life and career. Confidence comes from being authentic, believing in my purpose and continuously improving myself.

Q: If you are crowned the inaugural Misters of Botswana, what initiatives or causes would you like to champion during your reign?
A: I would champion youth empowerment through my “Own Your Story” initiative by promoting mental health awareness, psychological first aid, talent development, creative entrepreneurship and inclusive leadership. I want to encourage young men to embrace vulnerability, seek support when needed, celebrate diversity and become active contributors to their communities.

Q: Finally, what message would you like to share with your supporters, the people of Botswana and young men across Africa who dream of building a career in modelling?
A: Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. Your encouragement gives me the strength to keep moving forward. To every young man across Botswana and Africa, never stop believing in yourself. Stay disciplined, work hard, remain humble and never let fear prevent you from pursuing your dreams. Your story matters, your voice matters and your purpose has the power to inspire others.
