Hailing from Eldorado Park Proper, Damion is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and a passion for making a difference. As the first-ever Mr. Eldorado Park 2024, he embodies the values of resilience and excellence that his community strives for.

“I am a very humble, down-to-earth and hardworking person,” Damion says, reflecting on his personality. “I always strive for greatness in everything I do and I do it to the best of my ability.” These words are more than just a statement – they’re a way of life for Damion.

Damion’s journey to becoming a Mister Global South Africa semi-finalist is a testament to the power of dedication and perseverance. Having attended modeling workshops with Rage Models, he has honed his skills in confidence, communication, and self-expression. “One of my most memorable experiences is seeing myself on a magazine cover and reading articles about myself that reflects the hard work and dedication that brought me to this point in my life,” Damion recalls.

As a matric student at Damelin College, Damion balances his studies with his modeling career, showcasing his exceptional time management skills. “Balancing studies with modeling isn’t difficult for me because I’ve learnt how to manage my time effectively by working out a schedule to make sure I complete my daily tasks,” he explains. This skill has allowed him to pursue his passion for modeling while also prioritizing his education.

For Damion, education is key to unlocking opportunities and creating a ripple effect of confidence and motivation for others. “It felt like a desire to complete something that always felt unfinished,” he says, reflecting on his decision to pursue his studies. “Education opens massive doors and this will in turn create a ripple effect for others who are either battling to finish school or currently finish school and it will give them a sense of much-needed confidence and to always know to never give up.”

Beyond the spotlight, Damion is dedicated to advocating for men’s mental health. As a proud member of Cancervive, a non-profit organization, he uses his platform to raise awareness and support for important causes. “I advocate for men’s mental health,” Damion states, highlighting his commitment to this critical issue.

Damion’s passion for advocacy extends beyond men’s mental health. He believes in the importance of creating a safe space for men to discuss health challenges without stigma or hesitation. “The men’s forum would be dedicated to discussing health challenges which creates a much-needed space where issues like mental well-being, fitness, nutrition, and preventive healthcare can be openly addressed without stigma or hesitation,” Damion explains.

Damion’s participation in Brovember, a campaign that challenged perceptions of masculinity, showcased his commitment to personal growth and advocacy. “Brovember was about more than just creating change, it was rooted in personal reflection, growth, and advocacy,” he explains. “It was inspired by a desire to challenge perceptions of masculinity, highlight men’s health issues and create conversations around self-image and transformation.”

By shaving his beard, Damion sparked meaningful conversations about self-image, transformation, and identity. “The message I hoped to convey was a way to encourage others to embrace change, step out of their comfort zones, and reflect on personal growth,” he says. This act of vulnerability and self-expression demonstrates Damion’s willingness to challenge societal norms and promote positive change.
