I HAD NO EXPERIENCE BUT I MANAGED TO DO IT!

Are you thinking of taking part in any pageantry competition and doubt has been your greatest obstacle to reach your dreams.23 year old,Zimbabwean Emmanuel Marira tells his story on how he managed to stand Infront of the world as he participated  at Mister International Zim and conquered his greatest obstacle which was doubting himself

Q.Hie can you introduce yourself to the readers?
A. My name is Emmanuel Tanaka Marira, l am a 23 year old pageantry model based in Harare. I joined the modeling industry in 2020 and managed to win three major titles

Q.One might wonder why did you take part at Mister Zim International?
A.The theme for the Mister Zimbabwe International pageant was “MAN OF VALUE” And that is what describes me the most. I have always had a heart of giving to the less privileged and the leaders of tomorrow so I realized that the pageant was going to help me connect to the world and make it a safer place for the next generation. Men in our generation have a been facing a pandemic which is gender inequality, when the world decides to focus on one gender and turn their backs on the other one we are simply creating a new breed of suicidal youths and abusers and that is something I am also advocating for

Q.What was your take of this year’s Mister Zim International?
A.To be honest this year’s edition had some of the best male models l have ever come across, each contestant being unique in their own way. I never imagined myself placing top three but I always told myself that even if I didn’t place, I was going to be outstanding.

Q.What was your biggest challenge during the pageant?
A.The biggest obstacle I faced was self doubt. I did not have half the experience the other models had so l had a huge ground to cover

Q.Did it ever occur to you that you will reach where you are?
A. For the first few seconds I was in denial to be honest. I was just one big bag of emotions but above all I praised God for never giving up on me.

Q.Who inspires you?
A. My inspiration is the Mister Zimbabwe International National Director Mr Ishmael Murangandi. He was able to give a voice to the young male models in Zimbabwe and overcame the criticism that came with it

Q.Has Zim modelling sector reached the International standard?
A. I believe that Zimbabwe is slowly starting to give modeling a chance. Though we haven’t reached where we want to be as an industry, the pace we are working with is significant and hopefully in a few years we will be as great as other countries.

Q.In Five years
A. In 5 years I  hope to have established a culture where models despite their gender or background are not treated any differently or judged. We are all Zimbabweans, we are all human, No one is above the other
