The red signifies power, dominance and constituted authority bestowed on each king. IVIE which signify royalty and culture of the great Benin empire takes predominance of the costume accompanied by an Eben sword (as others tribes have their own representations) is known as the Staff of Office.
Cowries as a mood of exchange, the back piece representing the armed traditional force guarding the territories while the horse tail serve as an undertone of every victory won by the throne.
