Catwalking in an international pageant has always been part of hisQ:To someone who wasn’t present during the Fashion Without Borders, fashion show what words can you use to describe the atmosphere of the event ?A:Fashion Without Boarders has a vibrant and exciting atmosphere about it; right from the day of casting to actual event day, there’s never a dull moment around models and top notch designers.
Actual event day was the obvious highlight of my entire experience. The beautiful but elegant setup at the famous Hilton hotel was just breathtaking and the wonderful ambiance and audience just made the night extra special. It was definitely an experience I’d love to relive over and over again.

Q:The event was both virtual and now virtual .As a runway model what is your take of virtual fashion shows and how are they a beneficiary to you as. model ?A: Virtual fashion shows are changing the industry and I personally think that we should have a positive outlook on them.
Thanks to technology we are able to reduce costs while providing a realistic experience for both the physical and virtual audience, thereby exposing brands to a larger potential customer base.
I see virtual fashion shows as an upgrade to the fashion industry and a safety measure in the time of the covid19 pandemic.
Q:Which fashion shows are you planning to take part in future ?A: My dream is to one day cat in Paris Fashion Week, SA Fashion Week, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week as well as New York fashion week.
Q:If COVID 19 fades away as a model do you think, fashion modeling should continue not the digital side ?
A: I think that it should continue on both sides as this exposes brands to an expanded audience.
Q:Who is your Inspiration
A: I am inspired by Tyra Banks, mainly because of how diverse and business minded she is a fashion model.
She is a go getter and my number one ‘diva’ and I dream of being scouted by her one day.
WHO IS PHUMLA TWALA ?
Born and raised In Naledi Ext 2, Soweto; Phumla Thokozile Twala is the first daughter of Phindiwe Mthembu. I am a 21 year old high fashion model who began her model career straight after matriculating from high school in 2016.
I have always had a love for clothing and fashion from as far as I can remember.
As a little girl I would always imitate those vogue magazine models to the amusement of my family. I am currently studying marketing management and working as a logistics assistant.
I am passionate about modelling even though I only get to do it part time now because of my other commitments.
I have participated in quiet a few fashion shows and I am currently signed up with Blaze Models, which has all been an amazing experience and journey so far.
My biggest and most memorable show thus far has to be the Miss Soweto Pageant; the feeling of walking on that ramp and working with both local and international designers was just out of this world. I am looking forward to bigger and better shows and even better experiences.
